song: Just Another
artist: Pete Yorn
album: musicforthemorningafter
intro: C to Am (walk up and down)
C Am
You and I we're two of a kind
C Am Dsus2
I hate to say it but you'll never relate what makes you tick
F C
It makes me smile
C Am
You said that I should get away from it all
C Am Dsus2
And bury my head in the sand if I want to...I think you
F C
Should thank me now
CHORUS:
F Em
You were lying wide awake in the garden
F Em
Trying to get over your stardom
F Em
And I could never see you depart us
G C (to Am repeat)
And you're my baby...you're just another girl
I never mind the way I had to see ya
My working on a day show never explains why I see you
And I feel your pain
I love to wear my work inside of my head
I can't complain but you should never react the way you did
I feel your time
CHORUS

| one of the most relaxing songs ever. something you can put on repeat and listen to over and over again. to me it's sad and i like to listen to it to help get over someone, especially when they leave me. going through life looking for that special someone and they tell you that you "should get away from it all" and you're heartbroken. it's a good song to be sad over because it can help you convince yourself that the girl is "just another" girl on your way to the right one. | |

| This is a break - up song for me, sad, relaxing but with nice lyrics... I think it's about how when you met someone you like, maybe you two are different but you understand each other well and you think you two are meant to be, but then for some reason the other one breaks up, and that hurts... - because he seemed like the one but he's not and now you have to forget about him... It's hard in the beggining but after some time you get that feeling - he was just anoter ... And i think this song is about a relationship like that or at least about that feeling... | |

| "What makes you tick, it makes me smile" Love that line for some reason. Beautiful song.. heard it on the Dawson's Creek soundtrack. He describes the kind of feeling we can all relate to. | |

| It's about Winona Ryder. Every freaking sad song about a girl from a guy who has messy hair and a guitar is about Winona Ryder. It's true, I wouldn't make up that sort of thing. | |

| To me the song isn't contradicting at all, because after all, isn't your baby, just another girl to someone? Wasn't she that to you at some point? I think it's just about this girl he saw for a while whom maybe he apparentaly fell for in a way, though I don't know how in love he really has to be. The song is meaningful to me in that it takes it all down to square one, he's got this memory of watching her sunbathing in the garden and it's passionate for him, but at the same time, now she's just another girl. Everything he mentions is in past tense which leads me to believe it's not really meant to be a romantic song, though the music does facilitate that. It's a great, gorgeous song however you interpret it, just my own way of looking at it. | |

| This song reminds me a lot of a relationship I was in this summer. I had just bought this CD and couldn't put it down and I was visiting a friend in Seattle. I met this guy and we had a thing for a week and we really cared about each other and this song made me realize that it's gonna end even though we both care a lot about each other. We're still friends but it would never work... to him I'm just another girl. (haha, that was cheesy) | |

| This song hits so close to home. It is one big contradiction. It also reminds me of this guy I was seeing for like 3 weeks. It seemed like everything was going great, he would say things that were sweet and amazing and then *poof* he just stopped calling. He made me feel like I was this amazing chick and then like I was disposable.. It hurts to listen to Pete Yorn sometimes too bc this guy LOVED Pete Yorn! Saw him when he came to town and hung out with him afterwards... sigh... | |

| This song ISN'T about Winona Ryder. Pete's brother Rick is an agent for actors and looks after Cameron Diaz and Marissa Tomei, amongst others. When Pete first moved from Jersey to LA, he lived with Rick and would spend a lot of time hanging out at the house with mainly Cameron and Marissa. The song is about how these amazing celebrities were really just normal people. Hence, you're just another girl. | |

| I couldn't decide whether this song was depressing or uplifting... but it felt more happy to me. For me, it feels as though he's talking about a more or less good relationship, but it's not perfect. They may or may not be meant for eachother, but they're enjoying their time together. I guess... I don't know, somehow it almost reminds me of my relationship with my ex boyfriend. We were mostly happy, but at least for me it wasn't going to last. I don't know. Pete's great. | |

| The beautiful thing about Pete Yorns songs are that he doesn't talk about perfect love, but he speaks of faulty love with endearment. I guess sometimes the faults are what attract us to people, even if they are what inevitably seperate us. I can't wait for his new CD to come out! | |

| What I love about this song is how he keeps contradicting himself in it. He'll call her his baby, and then in the next line, he'll go and say that she's just another girl, almost like she means nothing to him. I think that this song is about attachment. He likes being in a relationship with her, he likes spending time together and everything of that sort, but he reminds her that even through all this, she's just another girl. | |

| i dunno, i think the contradictions are comparing now and then. i'm probably wrong but that was my first thought. "You are my baby" i said as she's there beside him, but no more... "I could never see you depart us" seems like she eventually did. maybe i'm just used to my emo =P | |

| This is so amazing his voice and the tune alone make it beautiful, but then the lyrics are absolutely captivating. The first line is the greatest. "You and I, we’re two of a kind, I hate to say it but you’ll never relate, what makes you tick? It makes me smile." It's so like my entire life. | |

| I think the way the song flows augments the lyrics. *To me* I think the song means that he's trying to get over her. It sounds like she's having some problems and wants him to quit her, because she'll break him. He loves her, so he's reconciling with himself... his love, and then trying to make himself believe... she's just another girl. I know I've tried to make myself believe that before... to get over someone. | |
