yeah, this is the beginning of the end, as keyman stated. The Funeral of God is a concept album that deals with the idea of God getting so fed up with humanity and our sin that he gives up on us and turns his back forever. i see this song as God sending one of his prophets, much like he did in the old testament. not only does everyone ignore the prophet, but they go as far as brutally murdering him. this is an example of humanity wanting nothing to do with God.

i think this is the story of a man who came across the said prophet, seeing his opportunity to finally take out his anger towards God and the world, he kills him, the man puts everything he has, his meekness, and his stubborness, and hatred into this terrible murderous act.

Well since the comment box asks what this song means to me, it sounds like he's pretty pissed off at someone and is getting his revenge by cutting him into pieces. It's probably totally off, but that's what the words say to me.

this is an amazing open to a truly amazing album. ive heard so many people rip on zao saying that they are just metal riffs and screaming, but this album is so intricate and has so much more to it as well. plus, the part where he screams breath of the black muse is so incredible.

As stated on the live DVD, this song is dedicated to those who have read American Psycho. Thus its meaning lies within the disgust and evil, amoral life that someone is subject to under the influence of the Black Muse, or evil itself, which is total seperation from God, who is the Creator and Supplier of all that is good.

I believe this song is the begining of our end. Here we see God becoming infuriated at us for continually turning away. The album was based on this, that God becomes so angered, He departs from us. And here is the first step.
