it's just something that's been bothering me for quite some time now. flower petals are with a t, bike pedals with a d. that's how it works.

i believe this is the first Zao song i ever heard... i bought the Cheapskates Harder Side CD like 4 years ago, and "Scars" was on it... i hadn't really been introduced to anything really metalcore or hardcore before, and Dan's intense growl-scream changed my life forever... LoL... outsyder101 has again hit the bull's eye by copy/pasting an interview with Dan... and yes Master Yoda, Dan is a genius... he is an incredible lyricist, one of the best i've come across... i don't understand the first few lines really well, but the line about the hooks means that his (the rapist) words/lies hurt her and stayed beneath her skin to bother her, and "as he shone..." means that he still looked like a Saint to everyone because no one believed he could do it, so he was still perfect in their eyes... "cradled..." could be literal or figurative about her lying on the ground and "isolation..." means that when he (the rapist) and she were alone is when his true motivations were revealed... it's pretty self-explanatory and very poetic...

this songs has a lot of meaning ot me, because sometinhg simaliar has happened to me, and it hurts the most because it's someone yu trust and feel comfortable around, and then they do something like that to you. it's something that is burned in your memory forever. I completly understand the meaning of this song.

When Dan talks about "Her pedals are slowly torn away," it seems like he is talking about the girl's innocence. Dan is a genius.

Are you serious rapala46? Fear before the march of flames sound nothing like the incredible ZAO. I hate that band, ZAO however is brilliant. This is my favorite song of theirs, so powerful and emotional and the lyrics are off the hinges of course due to dan's prolificness.

basically the first tour went on, while brett was still in the band, and it was about 6 or 7 weeks long. dan was seeing a girl (not neccesarily a girlfriend, just a very close relationship). she was going through a lot of things and was looking for someone to help her out. when dan left the tour, he (not dan or brett, a member of the church the girl went to) was really involved in the church, so she really trusted him. they went out together, not even really on a date, just to hang out and he raped her. alot of the song has to do with the fact that when she told people, no one would believe her since he was a such a great member of the church.

isn't is supposed to be "petals"? with a "t"? that's how petals is spelled. otherwise, with a "d", you're talking like, bicycle pedals.

wooow. i had no clue this song was about rape victim. i thought it was about a bully making fun of someone. -"his words were sharpened hooks beneath your skin u left them in" see i thought the bully was calling someone bad names, and those bad words stayed with the victim for a long time and really hurt him deep. and usually we make fun of people to make ourselfves feel better. so "he shined into the eyes around him" when he was cutting this other person down it made him look cool. but that makes more sense that its a rape victim. dan weyandt is so smart with his lyrics! zao forever!

I just heard this song today and I think the lyrics are really powerful. They don't sound like fbtmof but they do remind me if anything of nodes of ranvier. And shadows_fall the peTal thing was annoying me too lol
