Chords:

Em D A G

-7---x--------- I like to play the rhythm parts
-8---7---5---3- using barchords,
-9---7---6---4- but open chords sound fine too.
-9---7---7---5-
-7---5---7---5-
---------5---3-

Intro/ Verse
Em D
Em D
A A

Chorus:
G D
G A

It's that simple, here's all the lead tab:

----------------
INTRO and VERSE
----------------

* The Rhythm Part is just as important as the lead to give the song that swing feel.
* The rhythm parts are played clean, but a tiny amount of overdrive might sound good.
* For the lead parts, I use a very light distortion.
* No riff plays over the "A" Chord, the lead is silent here. But there is an A Octave
in later verses that you can add.

Drum and single guitar only.

(I had to let you go)

G (strum once, let ring out)
D (strum once, let ring out)
G (strum once, let ring out) (* enter small lead fill)
A

For that lead fill on the second G, I just play these few notes:

E------------------- I don't know if its right
B----3-----3-----3-- but it sounds good.
G------0-----0------
D--0-----0-----0----
A-------------------
E-------------------

Then play a normal chorus

i love this song. it sounds happy but it's actually depressing... it's really relaxing and carefree, a nice change from those heart-wrenching pumpkins songs (but i still love them)

I think this song is about unrequited love, but in the sense of getting over it. He's speaking in the past tense about what he wanted. He has found release. The importance of release is shown in the opening line "empty up and help yourself to go", it's about detaching yourself from all the things that drag you down or that you stand to lose and living your life. I'll take a stab at a second theme in these lyrics and that's of being forgotten by the person he loved "soon i'll be leaving left for dead". He's afraid for the person getting over him too fast and moving on faster than he is. I guess it makes the song like a little high in between two phases of depression over a person whom he loves. There's a hint of apprehension about what the future holds despite having forgiven the past.
