A A
A
empty-armed
and half a soul to go

Em D
a little sunshine and sympathy
A
now everybody knows
that i've been hanging down so low
G D
'cause now i'm feeling up
G
soon i'll be feeling out so cold
A
wondering, will you call
G
and now i'm feeling high
D
soon i'll be feeling left for dead
G
sometimes someone saying yes
A
changes what you'll bet
Em D
and all i wanted
Em
was just to hold you close
Em D
a little sunshine just to butter my toast
A
and your love next to mine
G D
i have to let you know
G
that we were meant to be just right
A
heaven sent, not sympathized
G
by everybody's lie
G D
and now i'm feeling high
G
now i'm feeling left so dead
A
kicking up the dust in bed
G
wondering, i guess

| Even though this song sounds so bouncy and cheery, I always think that it really isn't at all. 'it's all I wanted...' As usual it's that unrequited love thing, the idea that you only want one thing and you can't have it, and you have to let it go for the best of reasons. I always see this kind of message in Billy Corgan's stuff, I loved the Pumpkins and I love Zwan, but I'm starting to think that this view of all the songs is totally just a reflection of my own feelings. but then in a way I guess that's the point isn't it? | |

| I think this song is about unrequited love, but in the sense of getting over it. He's speaking in the past tense about what he wanted. He has found release. The importance of release is shown in the opening line "empty up and help yourself to go", it's about detaching yourself from all the things that drag you down or that you stand to lose and living your life. I'll take a stab at a second theme in these lyrics and that's of being forgotten by the person he loved "soon i'll be leaving left for dead". He's afraid for the person getting over him too fast and moving on faster than he is. I guess it makes the song like a little high in between two phases of depression over a person whom he loves. There's a hint of apprehension about what the future holds despite having forgiven the past. | |

| i love this song. it sounds happy but it's actually depressing... it's really relaxing and carefree, a nice change from those heart-wrenching pumpkins songs (but i still love them) | |
